Welcome Back !

Well December is apon us. This means it is time for the Eagles to start playing like they should of been all season. December is the Eagles month while it is not typically for the Cowboys.

An intriguing reader asked- Should we really get excited for the Eagles though? Well I can and can not answer that. Last year the Eagles finished with a 9-6-1 record. Remember the tie last year against the Bengals. The Loss that followed by the hands of the Ravens. The benching of Donovan Mcnabb occurred during the ravens game. People like me thought the season was over, we were done for, time to blow up the team and start over. Then came Thanksgiving night. Me and an avid reader of this blog were working last year on thanksgiving night. When we arrived at the stadium things seemed depressing. Fans just going through the motions. Family members sneaking into clubs to eat a meal rather than watch the game. But something happen that night that really turned things around a 48 to 20 win over the Cardinals. A win nobody saw coming. Most say that win on the Cardinals is what propelled the Eagles in to the play offs. Now why is this important you ask? I believe this week’s game versus the Giants is going to be a proving game. This is the reason I felt the need to blog. Lets face it the Eagles haven't played any real competition since their loss to the Cowboys. A Loss in which the Eagles lacked heart. If the Eagles can win this week against the Giants they will make a believer out of me that they are a true play off contender. Besides San Fran the rest of the Eagles schedule the Broncos and Cowboys are tough games. Brian Dawkins is goanna have his guys fired up and ready to play the eagles on the 27th.

Will the Eagle make the Playoffs? Probably

Will the Eagles win the Superbowl? Probably not

Why not? I fully understand that anything can happen on any given Sunday in the NFL. But let’s be realistic for a second, do we see the Eagles beating the Saints in the playoffs. Sean Payton head coach of the Saints always seems to know exactly what the eagles are going to do. It seems like he has a snitch in the Eagles locker room feeding him the game plan. The Vikings are totally different team with Brett Farve at QB. They are not the same team we played last year in the playoffs. I am looking for the Eagles to make an exciting run into the playoffs. I hope they do because, I hate watching other team celebrate. At 20 years old I realize that I should not drink the green flavor KOOL- AID. Strange things happen when you do followed by massive heart ache. Our jobs as Eagles fans becomes now take one Game at a time. Do not get to excited and do not book any reservations in Miami to Early!

Quick Eagles notes: Early repots are saying Akeem Jordan (middleline backer)- (RB)Brian Westbrook and (wr)Desean Jackson could all be on the field for the game on Sunday. Which would be really big for the Eagles.

So much more to say but I have a paper to work on so I got to wrap this up.

Phillies News!
Welcome back Placido Enrique Polanco. Polanco has comeback to play 3rd base for the Phillies. As much as I like polanco I don’t know how much he will help. He is only 6 months younger than Feliz not as good defensively, and has a little more pop in the bat. Polanco has a high on obp (on base percentage)and is suppose to be better driving runs in. We shall see.

According to the Phillies there looking for someone who can compete for the 5th spot in the rotation or be able to pitch in the bullpen. Hmmm! isn’t that what we had in Brett Myers?

Theres a report out about a trade that would involve Joe Blanton not sure who the phillies would be getting. In my opinion it would have to be a good player in return if were going to trade Joe Blanton.

There’s a report saying Brad Lidge and JC Romero might not be ready for the start of the season. I will update this

Phillies are reportedly interested in Brandon Lyon from the tigers. A good reliever who has closer experience would be good since Lidge might not be ready.

The Phillies are saying they can only increase the payroll up to around 140 million. I'm sorry, did I miss something where did all the money go? They raised ticket prices last year had fifty something sellouts, playoff games and a world series there and they can only go to 140 doubt it!

That is it for now my Eagles Giants pick is Eagles win 23 to 20

Quick notes
Allen Iverson first game back with the Sixers last night, came in a loosing effort to Denver. Iverson looked pretty good for first game back. Sadly the Sixers are still not that good and I don’t expect to see anymore sellouts this season.

Flyers- The Flyers are in shambles right now. John Stevens experienced the old it’s easier to get rid of the coach than the players. The flyers are looking like an overated team right now.
Breaking news: Flyers goalie Ray Emery will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair a torn muscle in his lower abdominal wall, the team announced today.General manager Paul Holmgren said Emery is expected to be out for about 6 weeks. Lets hope that the Flyers new coach Peter Laviolette can get things back on course so we have a good team to watch once the Eagles wrap up. So were not just counting down days to spring training.

What Happen?

Sorry for the recent inactivity of blogging. People have been asking me where is the Phillies post game blog? One wise reader recommended that I spend a few sentences on the Phillies then move on. Here is what the World Series comes down to in my view. The Phillies were out hit. Phillies had their chances with guys on base in game 6 and did not hit. I don't know why we left Martinez out their so long, we could all tell that he was obviously not feeling well. Also I did not see the heart from our team. There was no killer intensity. Yankees proved why they buy their team. Congrats to Yankees and with a few additions well see you next year. As far as the World Series I will leave it at that. I really wish we did not have Jamie Moyer under contract next year. I believe he is making in the range of 8 million dollars. That money could have been used to recruit a high free agent.

Bye Bye Pedro
Pedro Feliz is now officially a free agent. Feliz always played great defense, to that I will give him his due. But feliz's spot in the batting order became known as the black hole, with him Ruiz and the pitcher spot. Ruiz did hit in the end of the season and the post season though, lets hope that hitting continues. There are some pretty good names on the free agent list for 3rd baseman there as follows
Placido Polanco
Joe Crede
Mark DeRosa
Adrian Beltre
Chone Figgins
and Maybe Mike Lowell from the Redsox. My choice is Figgins he is not a home run hitter but he gets on base. He is also capable of stealing a base. (Let me know what your choice is?)

Gold Glovers
Jimmy Rollins 3rd year in Row
Shane Victorino 2nd year in a row.
One reporter said "Victorino got his for how hard he makes his defense looks than the defense he plays." I disagree with that but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Here is a complete list of NL Gold Glover's
First base: Adrian Gonzalez, San Diego
Second base: Orlando Hudson, Los Angeles
Shortstop: Jimmy Rollins, Phillies
Third base: Ryan Zimmerman, Washington
Outfielders: Shane Victorino, Phillies; Michael Bourn, Houston; Matt Kemp, Los Angeles
Catcher: Yadier Molina, St. Louis
Pitcher: Adam Wainright, St. Louis

Other Phillies Free agents are:
C - Paul Bako
2B - Miguel Cairo
3B - Pedro Feliz
OF - Matt Stairs
SP - Cliff Lee
SP - Pedro Martinez
SP - Brett Myers
RP - Scott Eyre
RP - Chan Ho Park

The Phillies have already announced they will not bring Myers back. I am on a wait and see. I want to see who we replace Myers with before I make an opinion.

Hopefully we can resign park, as he proved to be very valuable.

Cliff Lee option on his contract has already been picked up for next season. Now we have to hope he will accept a 3 or 4 year deal as usually that is all the Phillies will offer pitchers for following seasons. As Lee proved he is an ace pitcher.

Alert : According to a FoxSports.com report, the Phillies have shown preliminary interest in free-agent reliever Fernando Rodney, who went 37-for-38 in save chances with a 4.40 ERA this past season for Detroit.

The Bench: besides from Ben Francisco and Greg Dobbs, who are both under contract already, look for the Phillies to have new bench players.

I leave you with these questions to think about an answer in the comment section if you want?

Talk of Trading Cole Hamels are apparently not true, but should they consider it?

Apparently the Phillies still have some interest in Roy Halladay would you give up anyone on the current roster to get him? If so who?

What is the Phillies Biggest need to get back to the World Series?

And will the eagles ever fire Andy Reid? We have given him 10 plus years and what has he given us?

Finally I have to say R I P to the Spectrum. I got to see some of the closing shows at that place. Even though my shoes stuck to the floor everywhere in the building, I really will miss it.

Does it Matter ?

Does it really matter who the Phillies play in the World Series ? The Phillies will either play the New York Yankees or the Anaheim Angels. The Phillies were 2- 1 against the Yankees this year. After going right through the Dodgers like they were nothing, Phillies fans are saying bring on the Yankees. The Yankees and their 208,097,414 payroll is the highest in the MLB. The Angels rank 6th with the highest payroll at 118,964,000. Most say the Yankees are a bought team which they pretty much are, with Burnett, Sabathia, Teixeira and A Rod.The Phillies are 8th on top salary list with 111,209,046. Even with a big payroll we still have the most heart. Thinking about the series between Angels and the Yankees, I was thinking who I would like to see us play. Neither team really scares me. But when talking with friends about the series one made a good point. The angels coming back to win the series after being down 0 an 2 could take everything out of them. The Angels winning game 7 could be like winning the World Series to them. Leaving the Angels tired in the World Series. My belief about the Yankees is this, beating the Yankees in the World Series would fully legitimize the Phillies. Many fear the Yankees lineup, I do not. I fear our starting pitching. Besides Cliff lee are starting pitching is not too trustworthy. This is why I propose this take a chance and start Martinez in Game 1. It will not faze Martinez to pitch game 1, like it would the other young starters. By the time the World Series starts on Wednesday night, it will have been a week since the Phillies played. The Phillies are scheduled to play a simulated game today (Sunday) at the bank, but does that do much ? If you let Martinez go in game 1 and the Phillies bats are cold, I think were OK. We come back at Game 2 with our ace ready to go. For game 3 through 5 were back in Philly.

Let me know what you think about this!

Cole Hamels : Yes I am giving Cole Hamels his own section in this Blog. As one person can tell you I became a conspiracy theorist during game 5. I was so angry at Hamels that I was seeing things that were not there. I still am not high on Hamels and this quote does not help him, “I had no clue where the ball was going, I was missing my spot by about 3 feet, and that’s troublesome.” Listen I think it would be hard for Happ who is out of his starting pitching routine to come in and start. So Hamles will probably have to start in the World Series. So the best thing we can hope for is that either the old Hamels shows up because the last time we saw him was the World Series last year or the offense has a big night when he pitches. No matter what I would not let Hamels pitch on the road. Especially at Yankee stadium, with their small dimensions, at left and right field.

Eagles: After that performance in Oakland last week, all I got to say is Wow! Horrible performance all around. With a big Monday night game tomorrow night against the Redskins, It should be a victory. The Eagles will have a new middle Linebacker in Will Witherspoon starting. Omar Gaither is out with a Lisfranc sprain. Witherspoon has played the Redskins already this season while he was with the Rams, which help since he only had a week to study the defense playbook.

Welcome to the Bandwagon: Redsox fans and others. We know especially if we play the Yankees you will be cheering for the Phillies. Since the Redsox will once again miss the World Series we encourage you to cheer on our World Champion Phillies.

That is it for Now

Resilient to the End !

Good evening all decided to write this blog a little bit later in the evening. So if you’re sitting down to read this with a cold brew in your hand or coup of coffee, I hope you enjoy.
Sometimes you sit down to write something and it writes its self. This is pretty much what this blog will do. There have been a couple of times; I wanted to use this blog to lash out at the Phillies, during the series. But if last year proved anything is you have to have faith. You have to have faith with 2 outs and 1 man on in the bottom of the 9th, you have to show faith in Brad Lidge for an out or two.

This series seemed like it had plenty of everything. First we got screwed by MLB and TBS for game times. Cliff Lee opened up game 1 with a dominate game. Lee dominated the Colorado Rockies, tossing a six-hitter and only gave up 1 run in the ninth. The Phillies used base hits and a big 5th inning to put the Rockies away for game 1 .

In game 2 Phillies fans were confident with Mr. October Cole Hamels on the mound. Hamels only gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings, but it was very un Hamels like. Now not to make excuses for the man but his wife was pregnant with their first child. In game 2 we saw 2 starting pitchers used in Joe Blanton and J.A Happ. Happ was in for 1 pitch before getting hit on the knee. We saw rookie Antonio Bastardo get Pinch hitting Jason Giambi out. But unfortunately our Phillies fell in game 2 and breaking the 8 consecutive wins streak at home for the postseason.

Game 3 was delayed because of freezing temperatures, and a chance of snow. When it was played on Sunday night, half of the Philadelphia region could not stay awake because it started at 10 pm. Most who had work or school fell asleep early in the game. With the series tied at 1 to 1 visions of winning game 3 played in our head. When we awoke we all got see Ryan Howard hitting a ball, and Jimmy Rollins running home with glee. Brad Lidge had closed there was no need to worry. All we could think was 1 more game to go, with Cliff lee on the mound it would b over in a hurry.

Game 4 What a game! Cliff lee pitched 7 an 1/3 giving up 1 run on 5 hits. Lee left with two men on and Tulowitzki up next. Ryan Madson relieved Cliff Lee in a double-switch that also brought in left fielder Ben Francisco to replace Raul Ibanez. Right away we saw the switch pay off as Francisco dove for and caught a fly ball, that Ibanez would have never gotten. Unfortunately we saw Francisco not be able to catch Jason Giambi’s bloop single. With the game tied at 4 we saw Yorvit Torrealba send a two-run double to right-center for a 4-2 Rockies lead. At this point I felt like I was watching an Eagles NFC title game. But luckily the Phillies are not the Eagles and they don’t give up. After the game we heard that Ryan Howard said, “Just get me up to the plate boys.” The Phillies did get Howard up to the plate, and he delivered in a big way with a two out double. With the score tied at 4, Jayson Werth singled in Howard for the go ahead run. Scott Eyre came out to get 2 outs and left with runners on first and second. When Brad Lidge came out I was not the only one in my house making death threats to him. Lidge got Troy Tulowitzki to strike out, to end the ball game . Thank god we did not have to talk about bases load twice and not scoring, or Shane Victorino not tagging 3rd . Miguel Cairo finishing the game in left field did not hurt us. There are some things to question but for now there is no need to.

Houston Street you are now a fan favorite here in Philadelphia. After your 2 blown saves in this series you are welcomed here anytime. I guess you will not be hanging out with Chase Utley though, because you looked scared to death facing him.

The Phillies truly proved how important it is to play until the 27th out, in this series.

Random Thoughts: Best signs for the series go to the ones that read, “Incase of emergency use Stairs,” and “Street lights out.” If Cole Hamels does not pitch well, he will see a whole city turn on him. Phillies these games have been super exciting but I am getting ulcers at the end.

My duds of the series are: Brett Myers and Pedro Feliz’s bat.

Stars of the series: Cliff Lee, Scott Eyre, Jayson Werth and Ryan Howard.

On the Dodgers : I will try and do another post before the series starts on Thursday night. I am sure there will be plenty of stuff to write about. In case you haven’t heard Thursday night’s game will be at 8:07 and Friday will be at 5:07 pm both on TBS. This series will be tough; the dodgers had extra time to put their rotation to together. For us Cliff Lee won’t be available until game 3. It is very important we get to the Dodgers starting rotation. There bullpen is a lot better this year.

Last note: The Eagles moved their November 1st game against the Giants to 1 pm. Because that night would be a World Series home game for the Phillies.

Thanks I am JH JR, and I’M OUT.

Let's Repeat for Harry

So here we go again another post season ride. The Phillies are looking to repeat as World Series champions just like the Yankees did in 98, 99 and 2000. The last National league team to repeat was the Cincinnati Reds in 75 and 76. The Phillies led the NL east for 141 days this year and are looking good for same results as last year. It is going to be much harder this year for several reasons. Brad Lidge is far from perfect this year. Lidge has 11 blown saves this year with a 7.21 era. To be fair though a lot of people were waiting for lidge's first blown save in the playoffs and it never happened. So can  Lidge turn it on again? Our team has suffered many injuries this year so let's take a look at how the rosters differ.
Here is a comparison from the roster last year and this year.
Will start with the obvious
 The Same

Posistion players                      Pitchers                               Bench players
SS Jimmy Rollins                        Cole Hamels                       Matt Stairs
CF Shane Victorino                    Joe Blanton                        Greig dobbs
2B   Chase Utley                          Brett Myers                       Eric Bruntlett
1B   Ryan Howard                        J.A Happ
 RF  Jayson Werth                       Clay Condrey
3B Pedro Feliz                              Ryan Madson
  C Carlos Ruiz                              Scott Eyre
                                                       Brad Lidge
                                                       Chad Durbin
Players  on the DL but were on WS team
Jamie Moyer         JC Romero
Players who left
LF Pat Burrell         RF  Geoff Genkins
So Taguchi                C Chris Coste
The new additions for this year
LF Raul Ibanez                Utility Ben Francisco                Pedro Martinez
C Pail Bako                       P Cliff Lee
The rosters have to go back down to 25 for the play offs. The  play off roster has to be set by 10 am Wednesday (tom). As of this posting the rosters had not been set yet.  All we know right now is that Cliff Lee will start game one and Hamel’s will start game 2.   I know we want to keep Cliff Lee on 4 days rest but Cole Hamel’s deserves game 1 in my opinion. The guy was MVP in every stage of the playoffs last year. Let’s hope this does not back fire.
So with rosters not being set yet here is my prediction:
Once again the obvious:                         Pitchers:                                  Bench:
Jimmy Rollins                                        Cole Hamel’s                             Greg Dobbs
Shane Victorino                                     Cliff Lee                                      Ben Francisco
Chase Utley                                            Joe Blanton                                 Matt Stairs
Ryan Howard                                        Pedro Martinez                           Eric Bruntlett
Raul Ibanez                                           J.A Happ                                      Paul Bako
Jays Werth                                           Clay Condrey
Pedro Feliz                                           Chad Durbin
Carlos Ruiz                                         Scott Erye
                                                              Ryan Madson
                                                              Brad Lidge
                                                            Brett Myers
                                                            Sergio Escalona
Kyle Kendrick has really proven himself and deserves a roster spot this year. But we would only have 1 lefty in the pen, and I really don’t like the idea of having Happ in the pen . Pedro Martinez Should be put in the pen, he showed he could pitch well in relief in the World baseball Classic. Sergio Escalona name above  surprise a lot of people but he should make it. First of all the Rockies have a hard time hitting left handed pitching,The Rockies hit just .253 against lefties this season as opposed to .264 against righties. Escalona is hard throwing lefty and the Rockies have never seen him before.  And as much as I don’t think they should do it, Happ can pitch in game 1 in relief and still be on 5 days rest for game 3or 4 . Miguel Cairo deserves a roster spot but because of numbers will probalby be left off. Bruntlett can play more positions and is a little faster.
Now to notes for game 1 :        Do not underestimate Rockie starter Ubaldo Jimenez.
In  Game 3 of the 2007 NLDS  he struck out Aaron Rowand on three straight pitches — a 74-mph curveball, a 97-mph fastball and an 81-mph slider. Jimenez 97 mph fastball is consistent all game which could be bad for the Phillies.
During day games at the Phillies stadium especially around 3pm, there are shadows at home plate. These shadows make it really hard to see the ball and when you have a guy that has good hard and off speed stuff that can lead to trouble for the batters.  The Rockies are coming in hot like in 2007.
If the Phillies offense is not on their game it could be a quick first round exit by the hands of the Rockies again.
My Prediction Phillies win it in 5
Random Thoughts:  If you notice I left Chan Ho Park off of every thing above, I did not forget him. Park might be back if the Phillies make it to the divisional round.
Screw you TBS and MLB thanks for putting the defending WS champions first 2 games at 2:37 pm where most of our fans including me  can’t watch it. I know you want everyone to see Pat Sajak reading the lineup for the Dodgers, but like Utley said we are “World F ing Champions” we deserve the night game .  It is going to be 12:37 pm in Colorado; I don’t get how at least a 4pm start would have hurt. Then the Dodgers could start 8:30 or 9. The Phillies always get screwed and even if we win the Yankees or Redsox will still have the later time slot.
Rockies honestly you guys are sticking to “ Rocktober” for your slogan. I mean I get why you’re using it, but come on “Rocktober’ is the slogan  those Midwest classic rock stations use every year to in October.
That is it for right now I will try to do updates along the way.
Thanks and Go Phillies do it for HK

"Playoffs don't talk about playoffs" Just yet !

The phillies are starting to get their fans really nervous. In there last 8 games the phillies record is 3 wins and 5 losses. Houston for some reason really seems to have the phillies number. The astros swept the phillies in Houston and opened up the series last night with a win. The phillies like to keep reminding us that their magic number to clinch the division is 3. Well last night facing a pitcher with an 8.23 era (earned run average) the phillies could only muster up 4 hits 2 of which were by Shane Victorino. The Phillies lost to the astros 8 to 2 and were out hit 15 to 4. Meanwhile the Atlanta braves are on a hot streak. In their last 8 games the braves have 7 wins and 1 loss. The braves are currently only 4 games behind the phillies with 6 left to play.  The phillies should of had the division locked up along ago. But the phillies bullpen especially the back end has been a major letdown. The guys who were known as the bridge to lidge (Eyre, Romero and Madson) have been hurt or inconsistent. Brad Lidge himself was finally pulled out of the closers role for good on Friday night. Ryan Madson seems to be the closer, but he has his periods on inconsistency. Tyler Walker the man, who blew the game on Friday night, had been the consistent piece in the bullpen is starting to slide. Last night Walker gave up 2 earned runs in a relief appearance.

Starting Rotation
The starting rotation hasn’t been on their game either. Last night Cole Hamels gave up 6 runs on 9 hits. Cliff Lee allowed nine hits and seven runs in six innings Friday in an 8-4 loss to the Brewers. And these 2 guys are suppose to be are 1 - 2 pitchers in the playoffs. Blanton gave up five runs in his last outing and he was slated to be the 3rd pitcher in the playoffs.

Bench What Bench ?

Another problem for the phillies is they really have no bench. None of the bench guys are clutch hitters. Dobbs has the highest Batting average at .259 with a .310 OBP (on base percentage). But Dobbs has just recently come off the disabled list. Ben Francisco, who came over in the Cliff Lee deal, is batting .259 but is not a trusted pinch hitter.

My Phillies Prediction!

I think the phillies will clinch the division.  But they have to start playing some playoff baseball now. Hopefully they win their next 3 games then they can get some bench guys some at bats.

Eagles Time

The eagles beat the Kansas City chiefs 34 to 14 on Sunday. Kevin Kolb had a good game; he completed 24 of his 34 passes for 327 years and 2 td’s. Brian Westbrook did not play and he was not missed, as Lesean McCoy ran 20 times for 80 yards and a td. It looks like the eagles will finally have a 1-2 punch at running back.  Desean Jackson was Kolb’s number 1 target with 6 catches for 149 yards and a td.

Vick’s first game back went pretty smoothly. Vick was in on 11 plays for a gain of 30 yards. Vick took 10 snaps at the QB position and 2 as a receiver.

The eagles win was good but the Chiefs are a bad team at 0 and 3.  The eagles have a bye this week then come back to face Tampa at home, then Oakland at Oakland.  I think we will find out what kind of team the Eagles are when we play the Redskins on October 29th.  After the redskins we have the giants and Cowboys and after those 3 games we will truly no if we are a playoff contender.

Random Thought’s: It said that the Braves began to play better after Bobby Cox announced he is retiring after next season.  J C Romero pitched in his first game since July last night and had a scoreless inning. I don’t know how much were going to be able to trust JC in the playoffs.

Breaking News: The Eagles signed Jeremiah Trotter to a 1 year contract. To make room for Trotter the eagles released Jeff Garcia.

Look for another Blog update on Sunday night after the Phillies Final game.

What happen to the D?

In my post last week, I put the eagles would win as long as the defense played like they did against Carolina. An the eagle’s defense looked nothing like they did in Carolina. No one should have expected Kevin Kolb to play like a pro bowl (QB). Kolbs numbers were pretty good @ 31 OF 51passses completed for 391 yards, 2TDs and 3 Int's. Now some would say 3 int’s (interceptions) is a lot, but lets remember 2 of those Interceptions came at the end with Kolb trying to make a play. In week 1 against Carolina the eagles had 5 sacks and 5 interceptions. Against the saints the eagles had 2 sacks and 1 Int. 9 different receivers for the saints caught a pass. Drew Brees numbers were 25 of 34 passes completed for 311 yards and 3 td passes. Now the saints do have a lot of receivers that are playmakers. But there are no excuses for they way the eagle’s defense played. The eagle’s defense played most of the game like they did not care. With a young QB in there making his first start, the defense let him down. When Kolb got on the field the eagles were already down 7 nothing. The eagles 48 to 22 lost to the saints on Sunday, was the most points allowed at home since the Green Bay Packers scored 49 points in a game in 1962.

Loss of another Andrews? Stacey Andrews older brother of Shawn who signed a 6 year 38.9 million contract in the off season was out of action on Sunday. Doesn’t look like he will be back soon, as a report I read it is hard for him to plant his foot. It might be too early to call signing this guy a bust. But if you are that’s fine with me.

The Wildcat

By Andy Reid’s own account the eagles ran 12 wildcat plays on Sunday that averaged 5.7 yards a play. (For those of you who read this blog and don’t know what the wild cat is. It is a bunch of trickery plays to either score fast or to gain a bunch of yards.) The wildcat is a very entertaining package of plays. But I do not understand why the wildcat was run so much with Kolb in there. It seemed like with all the trickery Kolb could not get into a rhythm. During the game Troy Aikman made a comment like “it looks like Andy Reid had too much time on his hands this summer.” And the problem is there is probably going to be even more wildcat plays this weekend with Mike Vick returning. Something Andy Reid has to remember is the Wildcat is good but it comes with limitations. You have to find your rhythm first before using a wildcat formation. Maybe no more passes either for Westbrook in the wildcat, there should have been another 7 points on the score bored on Sunday.

Eagles Quick Notes: The eagles had 7 penalties on Sunday five on special teams. It seemed like Chris Clemens was lost out there on special teams being called for 2 of the penalties. Why have a FB (Fullback) if you’re not going to use him. Leonard Weaver did have 1 carry on Sunday, even though there were plenty of short yardage situations. Brent Celek had a really nice day with 8 receptions for 104 yards.

Phillies time: Phillies record is 87 wins and 61 loses. They have an 8 game lead in the division. With either 6 Phillies wins an either 6 marlins or braves loses the Phillies can eliminate them.

Phillies bull pen is pretty banged up right now with Scott Eyre loose body in arm, Romero strained forearm, Park strained hamstring Myers sore right shoulder and Pedro Martinez has a sore neck. Philles might need Happ to be the left arm in the bullpen if Erye and Romero can’t get healthy.

Phillies play a double header today starting at 4:10

Projected rotation PHILLIES (87-61) at MARLINS (80-70)
Today, 4:10: RHP Joe Blanton (10-7, 3.97) vs. RHP Josh Johnson (15-4, 3.01)
Tonight, Game 2: LHP Jamie Moyer (12-9, 5.05) vs. RHP Anibal Sanchez (2-7, 4.50)
Wednesday, 7:10: LHP Cole Hamels (10-9, 4.07) vs. RHP Rick VandenHurk (2-2, 4.24)

Look for the Marlins field to be pretty banged up from last nights Monday night football game. The Indianapolis Colts beat the Miami Dolphins 27 to 23.

Random Thoughts: As much as I hate Joe Buck he and Troy Aikman they did way better calling the game than last weeks announcers did. The guys from last week seemed like they were making up there own players for each team. The fox sports score tracker showed way to many baseball scores on Sunday. Sunday is Football I can hit my channel return button to see the Phillies score thank you, please just show me football.

Funny Quote: “Now I know why I’m not a starter anymore. I was sweating like a hostage out there.” Phillies Tyler Walker who is now a relief pitcher.
